What is the role of the public library in the new millennium?
Our context for this project was the public library in Ivrea, a small Italian town & former Olivetti's headquarters.
Since the late 80's Ivrea witnessed a dramatic change of its social fabric - close down of work places, exodus of young people & an influx of foreign immigration.
The project aimed at proposing new library services that would address the mutual concerns with in the community on heritage & multiculturalism.
At an early stage we identified that children, often acting as an integration vehicle, function as mediators between various groups.
Children as well experience a strong and significant contact with heritage. (with Ana Amorim
