Usually a user identifies such a status through an intentional indication. A Physical system hint on its status through inherent visual features as structure or mechanism.
Digital artifacts, on the other hand, are deprived of such visual clues.
The 'Morphing cube' exploration attempted to investigate how can transformation of shape indicate a digital object's status.
It followed a preliminary self written brief, to 'Construct a simple object that represents a digital device, and conveys three of its operation modes or statuses through shape-change'.
An external hard drive seemed the natural choice as a vehicle for this investigation. |
